
Hi, my name is Joe White and I am an internet marketing consultant in Minneapolis, MN. I focus on website design, search engine optimization, and lead generation for businesses in the Twin Cities and beyond.I currently own a small business, that has generated as well over $5 million in sales, from the internet since 2003. Let me clarify, not online sales but actually driving people, to call or visit, my local business to purchase products or services. In 1998 my wife Jenny and I started a small furniture franchise that was based entirely on running small classified ads, the business was an immediate success and profitable month 1. We grew very quickly and 27% of our business was by referral and the other 73% was make up by classified ads. The classified adds were great, the ultimate direct response marketing. The phone literally rang off the hook. I had come from the insurance and financial planning business and there I had to cold call and drum up business. This was awesome people called me and all I had to do was answer the phone, set an appointment and give directions. Well I’m sure you know where this is going.

Let me also just say that, at the peak I was spending over $8,000 per month on classified ads. But remember that $8,000 was retuning as much as $30,000 in gross profit at times. The ads were getting more and more expensive, more people were looking online and there were also more people advertising in the classifieds. In 2001 there was 14 pages of classifieds in the Minneapolis Star Tribune, today the classifieds make ads are 1 page. Today’s classified ads have been replaced by craigslist. In 2010 over 1/2 of our sales come from
Craigslist. You see we use Craigslist as a tool to drive traffic to our website. Then our website has a clear call to action. After years of thinking that I wanted a phone call from our marketing efforts in late 2009 I realized that it was ultimately an appointment that I wanted. So I put “schedule an appointment” button on our website and day one people were booking appointments online. The system sends me a text when someone books, I go to my email and click a link to approve the appointment. The appointment is automatically put into my google calendar on my iPhone, the program sends automatically sends a reminder email to the customer 6 hours prior to the appointment and also a text 1 hour prior. We currently book about 5 to 8 appointments per week from that website and there are rarely ever any no shows. I tell you all of this because I want you to know, I’m a business owner, sales person, and a marketer. I’ve been through challenges in business. You see, I help local business owners, who don’t understand online marketing, to finding more customers online.
